I am chagrined to write that I missed the ears, which means that I saw, but did not observe—not what one wants to do when dealing with the work of a an actor who happens to play Sherlock Holmes. I did note, however, that for what it’s worth, Cumberbatch’s character is wearing a Starfleet uniform.

Assuming that Cumberbatch’s role is a canonical one, I believe that we may now rule out Khan, Gary Mitchell, and Garth of Izar, since each of them was human. We are dealing with someone who is at least half-Vulcan or half-Romulan, but the facial features of Cumberbatch’s character are very human indeed. Whom could it be?
