How Politically Free Is Iran?

Not very, which is why an Iranian presidential candidate has to rely on a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session to get his message out.

I certainly don’t mind Iranian presidential candidates having to court attention from Reddit; interacting with the web might bring about some openness and liberalization into Iranian society. But it would be nice if Houshang Amirahmadi and other reformers were also allowed to interact in person with Iranian voters, without hindrance or interference from Iranian authorities. Too bad that kind of thing is not going to happen in this election cycle.
